ION, a brand with roots in water boardsports that launched the first bike wear collection last year, is honoured with the Eurobike Award 2013 in the clothing category. The award winning K_PACT_SELECT features a patent pending construction uniting maximum freedom of movement and protection at the same time.

ION’s K_PACT_SELECT knee-shin pads aim for all mountain, enduro AND gravity riders. The patent pending ION Tectonic_Fit is the key: Separate, overlapping and sliding protection panels in the knee and shin section keep the pad always close to the knee but also guarantee a so far unknown flexibility and pedaling comfort.

The main SAS-TEC performance knee padding is also used by BMW Motorsports for motorcycle protection clothing. This German-engineered viscoelastic insert foam reacts instantly to impacts by hardening and dissipating energy. The combination with memory foam on the shin and thin EVA-paddings on the sides keeps the overall weight low.

The perforated Airprene main fabric is made of eco-friendly limestone-neoprene and uses an antibacterial Sanitized treatment to prevent bad odor and smell – a technology that ION has been using and proving as first brand in surf wetsuits for two years, now (bluesign, Allergy UK & Oeko-Tex 100/Class 1 certified).
